We’re living in very interesting but uncertain times and it perhaps would not be surprising if current events weren’t starting to take their toll on your mental health – especially if you’re going through a period of change personally as well, such as going to university for the first time.
New research from The Insight Network and Dig-In has just revealed how hard it can be for young people leaving home to study, with one in five students saying they have a mental health diagnosis. The most common mental health conditions were depression and anxiety disorders.
Some 42 per cent of survey respondents said they had experience of a serious personal, emotional, behavioural or mental health problem, seeking professional help as a result – a rise of just over eight per cent in 12 months.
Consultant psychiatrist with The Insight Network Dr Stephen Pereira said: “There are some causes for concern about student mental health detailed in this report, but fortunately, mental health issues can be effectively managed if individuals are able to access the right treatment in adequate time.”
One avenue certainly worth considering if you are experiencing going through something at the moment are CBD drops for anxiety. Numerous studies have been carried out indicating that there could be a range of benefits associated with cannabidiol use and anxiety disorders.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse, for example, says that the product has been found to reduce stress in rats. And it has also been found to benefit people with other forms of anxiety-like post-traumatic stress disorder and social anxiety disorder.
CBD itself is a non-psychoactive component of the cannabis plant, unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC), which is used for recreational purposes. But it can help you as a therapeutic option if you are suffering from anxiety, depression and so on.
